April 10, 2020 Gramercy Woman Killed in St. John the Baptist Crash

Garyville – Early this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on US 61 south near Marathon Avenue which occurred at approximately 7:00 am. The crash took the life of 36-year-old Ashley White of Gramercy.

The initial investigation by Troopers revealed that the crash occurred as White was driving a 2015 Buick Regal southbound on US 61 near the intersection of Marathon Avenue. At the same time, a 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer was making a right turn onto US 61 southbound via Marathon Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, White’s Buick struck the driver’s side of the tractor trailer. White sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Seatbelt use on White’s part is unknown at this time. The driver of the tractor trailer was properly restrained with no reported injuries. Impairment is not suspected to have been a factor, but standard toxicology results are pending. This crash is an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
